{"id":14142,"date":"2021-12-16T13:04:36","date_gmt":"2021-12-16T13:04:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/szechenyilevelezes.abtk.hu\/uncategorized\/magyar-udvari-kancellaria\/"},"modified":"2026-06-07T09:23:52","modified_gmt":"2026-06-07T09:23:52","slug":"magyar-udvari-kancellaria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/szechenyilevelezes.abtk.hu\/en\/great-enterprises\/magyar-udvari-kancellaria\/","title":{"rendered":"Hungarian Court Chancellery"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Pferde Wettrennen Preise<\/em>.<a href=\"#_ftn1\">[1]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Unterfertigten haben Preise auf Pferd-Wettl\u00e4ufe festgesetzt, und zwar theils f\u00fcr Pferde, die auf dem ganzen Continent Europa\u2018s geboren, theils f\u00fcr solche, welche in der Oesterreichischen Monarchie, theils aber solche, die nur in den ungarischen Provinzen geboren und erzogen wurden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Diese Wettrennen werden vom Jahre 1822 angefangen, allj\u00e4hrlich im Monath Juny in der k\u00f6n.<a href=\"#_ftn2\">[2]<\/a> Freien Stadt Pesth abgehalten werden, und an welchen Theil zu nehmen jedermann h\u00f6flichst ersuchet wird.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Preise sind f\u00fcr 1822 von jedem der Unterschriebenen Hundert k. k.<a href=\"#_ftn3\">[3]<\/a> Dukaten in Gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00fcr das Recht sein Pferd mitrennen zu lassen, wird nichts entrichtet. Stephan von Sz\u00e9ch\u00e9nyi,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Graf Michael von Viczay Senior.<a href=\"#_edn11\">[k]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a> Sz\u00e9chenyi\u2019s underlining with two lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ftnref2\">[2]<\/a> k\u00f6niglichen<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ftnref3\">[3]<\/a> kaiserlich-k\u00f6niglicher<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref1\">[a]<\/a> Baron J\u00f3zsef Brudern (1774\u20131834), an ennobled Hungarian, was actively involved in Sz\u00e9chenyi\u2019s horse-racing movement in 1822. His house (a glass-roofed Parisian bazaar) was a notable building in Pest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref2\">[b]<\/a> From the minutes of the meeting held at Sz\u00e9chenyi\u2019s, the names of the unnamed persons can be ascertained: Count J\u00e1nos Batthy\u00e1ny (1784\u20131865), Prince Antal Grassalkovich (1771\u20131841) and Prince Ede Lichnowsky (1789\u20131845).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref3\">[c]<\/a> Count K\u00e1roly Esterh\u00e1zy (1799\u20131856), a friend of Sz\u00e9chenyi, was the owner of the Szered estate in Pozsony County, and served as county governor of Tolna County (1837\u20131845) and then of Gy\u0151r County (1845\u20131848).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref4\">[d]<\/a> Count L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Festetics (1786\u20121846), Sz\u00e9chenyi&#8217;s cousin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref5\">[e]<\/a> Michael Hengelm\u00fcller a Viennese banker and wholesaler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref6\">[f]<\/a> Count Istv\u00e1n K\u00e1rolyi (1797\u20131881), brother of Gy\u00f6rgy K\u00e1rolyi, retired from his military and diplomatic career in 1821 and supported Sz\u00e9chenyi\u2019s initiatives as a patron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref7\">[g]<\/a> Count Lajos K\u00e1rolyi (1799\u20131863) was the administrator of Csongr\u00e1d County (1830\u20131837), later the county governor of Aba\u00faj County (1841\u20131845), then of Nyitra County (1845\u20131848).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref8\">[h]<\/a> Count Gy\u00f6rgy K\u00e1rolyi (1802\u20131877) was a politician who founded a political club (reunio) with Sz\u00e9chenyi during the 1825\u201327 Diet. He was a patron of the arts and a founding member of the Hungarian Society of Sciences. From 1839, he served as county governor of Csongr\u00e1d County, and then as county governor of B\u00e9k\u00e9s County from 1842 to 1848.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref9\">[i]<\/a> Count Ferdinand P\u00e1lffy (1774\u20131840), mining engineer, held a mining office in Vienna from 1806. He was a great lover of the theatre, and from 1807 he supported the German theatre in Vienna and later became director of the court theatre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref10\">[j]<\/a> Count Ferenc P\u00e1lffy (1780\u20131852), imperial-royal chamberlain, owner of Bazin in Pozsony County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref11\">[k]<\/a> Count Mih\u00e1ly Viczay the Elder (1756\u20131831), numismatist, collector of coins and antiquities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recommended reference:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Istv\u00e1n Sz\u00e9chenyi to the Hungarian Court Chancellery, Vienna, 12 January 1822.
