Er schreibt<a href=\"#_edn8\">[h]<\/a> mir aber dieser Tagen einen ausnehmend vern\u00fcnftigen Brief \u2014 und <em>beweiset<\/em><sup>1<\/sup> mir, da\u00df es \u00e4u\u00dferst vern\u00fcnftig w\u00e4re, alle unsere Wiener Schulden zu bezahlen, weil man durch jene am meisten in\u2018s Geschre\u04f1 zu kommen pflegt. Ich gebe ihm, mit heutiger Post zur Antwort, da\u00df Sie in Wien dar\u00fcber entscheiden werden, ob es m\u00f6glich ist \u2014 oder nicht. Ihnen stelle ich diese Sache also anheim. Thun Sie, was Sie wollen, und was Sie k\u00f6nnen. He also refers to his reading in his diary entry of the day too (see note j).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref2\">[b]<\/a> The letter is unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref3\">[c]<\/a> Count Istv\u00e1n K\u00e1rolyi (1797\u20131881), brother of Gy\u00f6rgy K\u00e1rolyi, retired from his military and diplomatic career in 1821 and supported Sz\u00e9chenyi\u2019s initiatives as a patron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref4\">[d]<\/a> Count Lajos K\u00e1rolyi (1799\u20131863) was the administrator of Csongr\u00e1d County (1830\u20131837), later the county governor of Aba\u00faj County (1841\u20131845), then of Nyitra County (1845\u20131848).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref5\">[e]<\/a> Prince Vencel of Liechtenstein (1767\u20131842), a general and friend of Sz\u00e9chenyi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref6\">[f]<\/a> Antal Pigay was the former secretary of Ferenc Sz\u00e9ch\u00e9nyi and the steward of Istv\u00e1n Sz\u00e9chenyi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref7\">[g]<\/a> Sz\u00e9chenyi&#8217;s cook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref8\">[h]<\/a> According to his diary, he replied to Dauvergne on the same day, but the letter is not known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref9\">[i]<\/a> Count Gy\u00f6rgy K\u00e1rolyi (1802\u20131877) was a politician who founded a political club (reunio) with Sz\u00e9chenyi during the 1825\u201327 Diet. He was a patron of the arts and a founding member of the Hungarian Society of Sciences.
