Sono incantato della vostra amabile Lettera Signora,[a] ma posso assecurarvi che il Sig[1] Perret[b] a voluto adularmi quando ha detto che io sapevo l’italiano. ‒ Vi confesso che [non][2] ho bastantemente talento per capire tutto cio che mi si dice.[3] — Spero se fossi piu [tempo] nella vostra gratiosa societa aquistare quelle cognizioni che mi mancano ‒ per[che] io credo che avete assai pazienza per me. —

Vous me pardonnerez Madame de ce que j’ai prit la liberté de vous avoir dit: c’est seulement sous le prétexte d’apprendre la langue italienne que j’ai pu avoir courage. —

Vous m’avez promis, de me consoler ~~~ eh bien, c’est á vous [á] présent de me pardonner ~~ c’est tout ce que j’ose suppléer de vous. —‒ Vous [etes] la plus séduisante personne que je n’ai jamais vue – sachez que j’ai bien peur de [vous] ~ J’aimerois vous voir toujours quoique je devrois vous éviter par tout, parce qu’il n’y a [rien] de plus sur que je serois entrainé tellement par vos charmes qu’enfin enflammé d’une [passion] malheureuse, á laquelle vous ne répondriez jamais — vous feriez mon malheur – ce que vous ne désirez certainement pas.

Je vous prie Madame d’agréer les sentiments de mon plus profond respect [Est] ce que j’ose espérer de recevoir une réponse?
