Svalla gave him Ertl’s letter. Széchenyi doesn’t need money or people, but Svalla wants to leave the money with him anyway. Széchenyi gives Liebenberg full authority in the matter.

Den hier beygebogenen Brief[b] überbringt mir Swalla. Ich sagte ihn „daß ich kein Geld brauche — und ihm keine Anstellung geben kann.“ Swalla will aber durchaus das Geld beӱ mir anlegen – ich gebe Ihnen also Plenipotenz zu thun, was Sie wollen – mich auf etwas Unbestimmtes[1] binden, will ich nicht – Sie könnten aber mit ihm eine kleine Convenzion machen; etwas an Frucht — Victualien, eine Schwein u. s. w.[2] ihm solange jährlich zusichern, und das auch Via Gratiae,[3] als das Capital beӱ uns angelegt ist.

[a] The next time they write about the case of Ferenc Svalla is in August 1823, so the year of the letter is 1823.
[b] A copy of the letter is enclosed, which is a letter from János Ertl of Kőszeg, 14 May 1823. In this letter he informs Széchenyi that he can place 20,000 Viennese forints at his disposal at any time, at 6%. This sum is the sole property of his brother-in-law Svalla and his sister Lujza, but as they cannot live on it, he asks the count to put them at his service.
