[a] He implies that his presence might hamper the renovation work that has been going on in the castle for months, as he has mentioned in previous letters.
[b] Unidentified person, probably a friend of Széchenyi in Sopron County.
[c] Apáti, a village in Vas County, halfway between Szombathely and Kőszeg, on the bank of the Gyöngyös stream, belonged to the estate of the Széchényi family.
[d] The content of the letter suggests that it was written in 1816. He was on holiday in the summer of 1816, spending his time in Vienna, Cenk and Apáti.
