Széchenyi elmagyarázza Bellenden Ker korábbi kérésére, hogy három könyvtár is van Pesten (az Egyetem, a Múzeum és a Magyar Tudós Társaság könyvtára) ezért nem tudja pontosan, melyiket szeretnék meglátogatni. Ha az utóbbiról van szó, Széchenyi a Társaság másodelnökeként biztosítja őket, hogy szívesen látják Pesten a küldöttséget, és rögtön mellékel is egy levelet londoni bankárának címezve. Ha a levéltár munkatársai a levelet elviszik Rothschildhez, ő majd elirányítja őket a megfelelő helyre.

In answer to your Letter of the 15th inst1[b] I beg to inform you, that there are three quite distinct Libraries at Pesth which may be called public, viz. those of the University, Museum and Hungarian Literary Society, and therefore I do not know, which of these Libraries the Commissioners on public Records in England intend to honor with the said Records. If it be the Library of the Hungarian Literary Society, of which I am the Vice-President, I am sure, the Society will feel very grateful, and accept of them with the greatest pleasure. And in that[2] case you will oblige me very much by sending them to Mr Rothschild[c] in London with the Letter which I take the liberty of inclosing, and he will forward them to this place.
Pray be so kind as to present my respects to the Commissioners on Public Records in England and believe me with the sincerest sense of gratitude for the interest you have taken in our country
